The Importance of Sleep

SLEEP. Something we all took for granted before we had children. We have all been told that we will “get through it” and “I’ve been there.” “It’s only for the first few years of their lives.” While all of this may be true and we adore our little miracles, there truly is a better way. I am here to tell you that I have lived through it and I see you. The most exciting part is that I CAN HELP YOU!

The Sleep Sense™ Method was created out of a strong belief that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. A well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn.

When parents choose me as their child’s “sleep coach” they are placing a great deal of trust in me, and I take this responsibility very seriously. All children are different and no one knows your child better than you do. I will create a personalized plan that works for you and your family. I will make sure that you, as the parent, are comfortable with your new sleep plan. That will ensure our success together.

My Approach

My approach to improving your child’s sleep is pretty simple:

Honest Feedback

I’ll give you honest information about WHY sleep is so important for your child’s well-being. This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits.

Individual Plan

I’ll lay out an easy-to-follow, step-by-step plan that lets you make some choices about what is the right approach for your child.

Measuring Sleep

I’ll show you how to measure success. Realistically you shouldn’t expect your child to sleep 12 uninterrupted hours on the first night — although it does happen! I will tell you what you can expect throughout the process, while offering support and encouragement along the way.

What About Crying?

People always ask me whether my plans involve “crying it out”. The short answer is ‘no’, however, crying is your child’s way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. That’s why I’m always sure to tell parents that my program will most likely involve at least some amount of protest on the child’s part.

Please understand that I will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone, nor will I ask you to ignore their cries. The reason that the Sleep Sense™ Method is so effective is that it lets us develop a plan that you feel comfortable with.
